Russian designer Gosha Rubchinsky became the chief designer of the Yeezy brand founded by American rapper and producer Kanye West. Cooperation message appeared on West’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“YEEZY welcomes Gosha Rubchinskiy as its new head of design. The arrival of this legendary Russian designer to YEEZY, the world’s leading music and fashion brand, is an important achievement in the history of design,” the statement said.
At the same time, on another social network, Rubchinsky himself announced the end of a long-term collaboration with the Japanese luxury clothing brand Comme Des Garçons.
Last October, Adidas refused to work with Kanye West after a controversial interview with the rapper, where he made a series of anti-Semitic statements. After this, Forbes estimated West’s fortune at $400 million, making him no longer a billionaire.
Gosha Rubchinsky is a Russian designer considered a representative of street fashion. Rubchinsky’s first collection saw the world in 2008. The design of Rubchinsky’s clothing contains elements that refer to images of post-Soviet fashion from the 90s.
During his work, the Gosha Rubchinskiy brand launched collections in collaboration with companies such as Fila, Kapa, Adidas, Burberry, Vans, Levi’s and others. In 2016, the designer was included in the Business of Fashion list of the “500 most influential people in the fashion industry.”
