Over the last 10 years he has actively used the WISE infrared telescope to study galaxies, stars, comets and asteroids. However, solar activity became so strong that the station began to burn, leading to the decision to close the station.

NEOWISE has taken more than 1.45 million infrared measurements of more than 44,000 objects in the solar system, including asteroids that pose a potential threat to Earth.

He helped calculate the route of the asteroid Apophis, which could hit our planet in 2013.

However, solar activity caused the station to overheat, and anticipating possible problems, NASA decided to shut down NEOWISE.

According to Joseph Masiero, the project’s deputy scientific director, the station’s inability to remain in orbit is due to solar activity and will lose the ability to use infrared sensors in the near future.
