On YouTube you can find many videos mentioning Elon Musk. Some of these videos are very similar in content, which boils down to one thing: Elon Musk promises to build affordable homes to solve the housing crisis in the United States.

These videos can be divided into two categories, depending on which homes they are shown in:

1. House for $50 thousand
2. House for $10/15 thousand

In addition to mentioning the Mask, the videos combine clickbait headlines and fake content, which has nothing to do with the reality of that one.

1. A $50 thousand house in which Musk himself predicts life

There are many channels on foreign YouTube that are dedicated to President Elon Musk. Bloggers film about everything that in one way or another concerns the Mask.

Here is one example. The video is called “A Tour of Elon Musk’s $50,000 Tiny House.” At the beginning of the video it is said that Elon Musk bought such a house, and that’s where the mention ends. And so on in all other videos.

In their videos, bloggers show the Casita modular house from Boxabl. Elon Musk did say last year that he was using a prototype of this house, but he doesn’t live in it. He uses the Casita as a guest house in Texas.

The confusion probably died because Musk wrote in X that live in a small house worth $50 thousand on SpaceX territory in Texas. However, later Musk clarifiedthat this is not Boxable’s house.

2. House for $10/15 thousand, which is being developed by Elon Musk

This category contains perhaps the most interesting videos, because there is no truth in them at all.

For example, on Elon Musk’s Rewind channel, the two most popular videos are called “New Tesla house for $15 thousand for green living” (6 million views) and “Tesla’s first tiny house for $15 thousand for green living” (2.9 million views) .

The names are almost the same, but the essence is this: Elon Musk, together with Boxabl, is developing inexpensive houses to solve the problems of the housing crisis in the United States. Contacts in pursuit of Hype call Musk the real head of Boxabl, as well as the company itself – a division of Tesla.

In addition, if you pay attention to the preview videos, they often show a completely different house, unlike Boxable. There is no intrigue here either: the bloggers simply took an image of the Nestron C2 compact house and included the Tesla logo on it.

Basically, from channels that play videos with the headlines “Elon Musk has officially bought a Mercedes!” and “Elon Musk creates combat robots to defeat Russia,” you won’t have to wait for anything else.

Elon Musk does not develop at home, but it is useless to fight fakes

The problem with all these videos is that they have nothing to do with Elon Musk, and all the claims are lies and fiction.

The mask does not design or build houses. It has nothing to do with Boxabl.

However, such videos often receive millions of views. As a rule, such videos are produced by bloggers who work only on views. They posted videos almost every day, including Elon Musk’s name in the headlines to attract views.

Videos about houses began to appear after Elon Musk introduced Boxabl. But this is his company, he just bought houses from her.

With a simple search, I was able to find at least 10 channels that ran videos on this topic. In this case, one channel can contain several videos of the same type. In pursuit of hype, bloggers sometimes copy the title and preview from each other.

Musk has not publicly stated that he wants to somehow combat fakes about himself on YouTube. Most likely, he believes that there is no point in this, because it will not be possible to sue and block everyone.

Elon Musk could not solve the housing problem with the help of cheap houses

According to the US Government Accountability Office, the country’s affordable housing crisis continues to grow as of 2023. This old problem in the United States is getting worse every year.

It is greatly influenced by the rising cost of land and construction. From 2012 to 2019, land prices in the United States increased by an average of 60%. As a result, It becomes unprofitable for construction companies, like ordinary people, to purchase land for the construction of small plots..

Many believe that prefabricated houses can solve this problem. But even if we assume that they begin to be distributed free of charge (in reality, banks do not always approve mortgages for such housing), many other problems will arise.

To install this house, a person must own the land. In large cities, and these, in turn, are city houses, land is very expensive, especially in comparison with the house itself.

Theoretically, it can be bought outside the city, but there may be problems with infrastructure, and in some cases with communications. Not to mention the fact that the pandemic spends 2-3 hours on the road to work every day, depending on the distance from the city.

Additionally, Boxabl homes and their equivalents are considered “accessory dwelling units” by law. They can be stored as an additional guest house if there is a main one.

But even if we put this subtlety aside, there is another problem – modular houses do not scale. For example, only 80 houses can be connected per 1 hectare; this is the minimum required number of parking spaces. And in this case, the houses will be located close to each other, which will make them look like a trailer park.

Reducing the prices of these houses does not compensate for the above problems. In addition, the US has a well-developed market for prefabricated frame frames, many of which cost 1.5-2 times less, but they still do not solve the problem of the affordable housing crisis.

Bloggers still continue to make similar videos mentioning Mask

As already mentioned, videos about inexpensive houses get a lot of views; they have nothing to do with Elon Musk.

Bloggers were also exposed on YouTube, but this did not affect the growth of views in any way.

People continue to watch these videos, and bloggers make identical videos for each other, often within the same channel. There are more than ten such videos on the Elon Musk Fan Zone channel, the most popular one has 7.8 million views. More only in the video entitled “I tried to help you – Ilona Musk’s last warning (2024).” [Adam Something]
