In fact, mild Covid symptoms may not be much different from a hangover. But there are still ways to distinguish between these two situations.

Dr Bruno Silvestre Lopes, who lectures in microbiology at Teesside University, spoke to Express.co.uk about the difference between coronavirus and a hangover.

The most important symptoms to look for include fever, sore throat, headache, and loss of taste and smell. They indicate the presence of infection in the body. But headache is also a symptom of a hangover. With coronavirus, a person may also experience nausea, fatigue, diarrhea and muscle pain.

To figure out what’s causing your symptoms, watch how long it lasts. If you don’t feel better after 24 hours, you probably have Covid.
