Polytech and Avtotor showed the development of an L7 category electric vehicle. The project is currently in the testing stage, so the appearance of the body will change. The machine in its current form is an aggregate conveyor. Avtotor has patented the Amber brand for serial production of the car, scheduled for 2025.
The presentation of the electric car took place at the Polytechnic Institute (MAMI). They showed a universal platform for testing electric vehicle systems (MULE). The machine is being developed by the university at the request of its strategic partner Avtotor.
Previously, Hyundai, BMW and KIA cars were assembled at the Avtotor plant. According to the rector of the Polytechnic, Vladimir Miklushevsky, the main goal of the project is the creation of a national engineering school for electric vehicles.
All the main components of the presented mule were developed and produced in Russia, the Polytechnic indicated. They also promised that the car would be affordable.
The peculiarity of the car is that the battery can be rented and not bought.
Certification of the first five pre-production units is planned for 2024. And in 2025, according to estimates, mass production will be launched. Avtotor emphasized that the design will be changed by then.
To start production, the company patented the Amber brand. In October, the company patented the graphic logos of two brands: “Amber Auto” and “Avtotor Amber.”
