Scientists from Rosatom have proposed an innovative system for combining laser beams for fiber optic lasers that can increase the radiation power by 10 times. This opens new prospects for the use of lasers in scientific, technological and industrial fields. Employees of JSC Research Institute NPO LUCH, part of Rosatom State Corporation, have completed research work on spectral combining of laser beams using special filters.

The technology, based on the principle of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) channels, has been adapted to technological lasers. It allows you to significantly increase the radiation power of fiber lasers, which are actively used in industry for various tasks. Viktor Fedoseev, principal investigator of JSC Research Institute NPO LUCH, noted that fiber lasers, despite their compactness and efficiency, have limitations in unit power, and the new technology can solve this problem.

The study was carried out within the scope of a preliminary project of “Science and Innovation”, a private organization that supports the scientific development of the nuclear industry. Joint Stock Company Scientific Research Institute Scientific and Production Association LUCH is a key player in supplying the nuclear industry with fuel elements, creating fuel compositions and other technologies, including laser systems.
