Russia’s largest container operator has completed redomiciliation from Cyprus

Global Ports changed its commercial registration from Cyprus to Russia. The company registered the legal entity MKAO “GPI” in a special administrative region on Russky Island in the Primorsky Territory, as follows from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

Global Ports is Russia’s largest container terminal operator. The company operates five terminals in Russia and two in Finland, as well as a dry port near St. Petersburg.

Earlier, Putin signed a law on amendments to the tax code, which expand opportunities for residents of so-called Russian offshore companies. They allow international holding companies to choose forms of investment to reduce income tax rates.

The “Russian offshores”, or special administrative regions, are located in Russia, on the Russky Islands in the Primorsky Territory and on Oktyabrsky in the Kaliningrad Region.
