Manufacturers and distributors have notified retail chains of a 5-22% increase in sales prices for dairy products, coffee, juices, rice and confectionery products from the beginning of 2024. Among the reasons for the increase are the increase in cost of transporting goods, rising processing and packaging costs and poor harvests of coffee and other agricultural crops, writes Kommersant.
Logistics managers had to increase employees’ salaries due to staff shortages, increase the costs of renewing the fleet and renting warehouses, said Deputy CEO of Courier Service Express Maria Martynova.
The head of the AKORT presidium, Igor Karavaev, added that new prices are never “immediately transmitted to store shelves.”
The Agriculture Ministry said the situation “is under the special control of the ministry.” The dynamics of prices for certain products not produced in Russia depends on the exchange rate, they added.
