The share of business trips in the total tourist flow in 2023 quadrupled due to visits of Russian businessmen to China and Turkey. Business trips, according to various estimates, accounted for between 17% and 22% of trips for the year, significantly higher than in 2022. India and Iran have also become popular destinations.

The number of business trips by Russian businessmen quadrupled

The number of trips has approached pre-pandemic values (in 2019, the share of business trips abroad reached 25%) and experts expect the trend to continue in 2024, highlights Kommersant.

Vipservice believes that the growth was 19%, OneTwoTrip – 22%, Trivio – 17%. At Aeroclub, the number of sales of plane tickets to other countries increased by 48%.

Market analysts are confident that the increase in the number of business trips is directly related to the creation of new business ties with companies from China, Turkey, India and Iran (in general, the Middle East region).

Specifically, Beijing accounted for 0.04% in 2022 and 1.9% in 2023. This year, 3% of entrepreneurs flew to Shanghai, and in 2022 there were practically no visits there.

The largest number of flights continues to Istanbul (16.8%), but experts recall that Turkey often acts as an intermediate point. Promising destinations are also Minsk (8.1%), Almaty (7.2%), Yerevan (7.1%), Tashkent (5.9%) and Dubai (5.2%).

The Raketa service also sees a 15% increase in the number of visits to European countries (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, etc.).

The average cost of business flights is 30 thousand rubles, accommodation (and this figure has not changed) is 15 thousand rubles (data from OneTwoTrip for Business).
