A couple of months ago, I woke up differently in the morning and felt a strong desire to upgrade my iPhone 13 Pro Max to a new “tag”. Well, you know, this happens when you need it right now, that’s all.

For several hours I thought about what to take: again the largest Pro Max or try a more compact firmware? On the one hand, there was a plus in the form of a more advanced camera, and on the other hand, there was an unusually convenient size of the device, which would not bulge in the pocket and would be convenient for use with one hand on the go.

In the end, the size of the case won out and I took the iPhone 15 Pro. Two months later, I am no longer so happy with my choice and sincerely believe that I was mistaken. I had to take the 15 Pro Max again.

Why? Yes, here’s why:

I really don’t have enough time to work autonomously

I’ll be honest: after several years of using the Pro Max version of iPhones, I completely forgot about the fear of being far from a power outlet with a dead battery. As far as I remember, this has never happened – the battery of my “Pro Max” was always enough for at least a full working day from morning until night, and on calm days, it happened for several days.

Moreover, I never used devices like the always-on battery saving mode, did not turn off the smartphone function for the sake of extending battery life, and even at some point turned off and carried the charger with me.

So, when choosing the new iPhone 15, I didn’t pay any attention to the difference in the capacity of the wooden elements in the Pro and Pro Max. More precisely, I remembered it, but without even taking into account that the difference in autonomy could be gigantic.

Do you think I’m exaggerating? That’s what I thought too.

But two months have passed, and I can say with confidence: I made a mistake and chose the wrong smartphone. I should have taken Pro Max.

Usage statistics for my iPhone 15 Pro. I don’t do anything supernatural with it.

I think it’s clear that the scenarios for using the device do not change at all. I no longer play mobile games or pick up my smartphone with exactly the same frequency as I used to pick up the 13 Pro Max.

And if my “Pro Max” with battery wear of more than 17% lasts for one and a half to two days, then in the case of the new iPhone 15 Pro this time is much shorter. To be precise, it has already happened several times that by 4 pm the battery was at an alarming 10-12% and because of the fever, I had to figure out where I would have to become a power bank or a wire with a charging unit.

Yes, the presence of USB-C slightly affects the search for a charger nearby, but I would have preferred better battery life.

So a month ago, a power bank settled in my backpack, and I myself took the habit of charging my smartphone not only before going to bed, but every time I have the opportunity to do so. Simply put, I became dependent on the outlet.

Dangers that have not been confirmed

I like the dynamic island much better than the bangs.

It seems like this post is riddled with negativity and is intended to scare you away from purchasing the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but that is not the case. I just want you to use the previous “pro max” principles that you shouldn’t forget about the autonomy factor between the two older iPhone models. The difference is quite noticeable, the treatment is on yourself.

But several other dangers have not been confirmed at all. In particular, I was a little worried that the smaller screen would be awkward and I’d have to get used to the diagonal limitation.

In fact, there was absolutely no discomfort, and there was no need to squint. Reading information from a smaller firmware, after Pro Max, turned out to be unexpectedly comfortable.

I also don’t suffer at all from the 5x zoom phenomenon. I use the camera quite often, but there have never been situations where I could continue to get closer to the object being photographed.

In all other respects, the iPhone 15 Pro turned out to be exactly as convenient as I like: compact, productive, convenient. Am I willing to sacrifice autonomy for these benefits? I think yes. But no more than one year.

As soon as the new generation comes out in 2024, I will definitely upgrade to Pro Max. This means that we are constantly monitoring the charge level and limiting ourselves when using a smartphone is personally inconvenient for me. I got out of the habit of this after several years in the company of “pro max”, and I don’t want to get used to it at all.

Therefore, be careful about your choice, own “shovel-like” Apple smartphones. On the eve of the New Year holidays, the bustle can cloud your mind and the desire to get a new iPhone will overshadow the voice of reason. Don’t repeat my mistake: if you had a Pro Max, only upgrade to a newer Pro Max.

Otherwise, that same dissatisfied commentator on life will awaken in you, who will write on the Internet with your own hands about “terrible battery in iPhones

Do not do it this way 🙂

On topic: I spent two weeks with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and struggled to drain it. How long is autonomy enough?
