As the authors of the rating, the top was calculated based on what is actually being done now, and not on the speculative basis of what a particular company might do in the future. Criteria for entering the rankings included total number of launches, tonnage per orbit, success rate and much more.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX took first place with 100 launches for the year, reusing more than 90% of rockets launched in 2023. This year, SpaceX launched 1 million kilograms of cargo into orbit. And this year alone saw the debut of the company’s largest and most powerful rocket, Starship.
Rocket Lab moved up one place from last year’s ranking to second place. The company set a new record: 10 rocket launches per year.
Another well-known company was United Launch Alliance, which took third place but dropped one place. Firefly grew by 2 places and ranked 4th. Blue Origin, one of SpaceX’s main competitors, ranked only 6th.
The much-hyped Virgin Galactic came in tenth place. But this is a success against the background of the general situation in the company, because it managed to complete 6 launches and, in principle, is included in the rating.
