On the second day of the New Year, I propose to remember what interesting and important things happened over the past week in order to keep abreast of what is happening in the world of gadgets and technology, and also discuss this news with friends.
Below we have collected all the most interesting things over the past six days, what was written about and discussed on the pages of iPhones.ru.
In the last week before the new year, we spent small places on iPhone and Mac, explained about fakes, captured the entire Telegram, chose the best gamepad for a smartphone, looked at what the official Apple store in Georgia looks like, and much more.
Read about this and much more in our digest:
1. Everyone says that the iPhone charges Russians money for every reboot. Figured it out and explained
This news, which captured almost all TG channels last week, has one, already typical problem that has become the norm in the context of the popularization of trash Telegram channels. It is almost 100% fake.
The reality is simpler. In a separate article, we figured out what was really happening, and also provided anonymous comments from representatives of Russian operators.
2. How secure is the space on iPhone and Mac. We have collected the most effective methods
Memory is needed to install system updates, download large amounts of data, or simply for the normal state of iOS. We reminded you of the most effective and efficient ways to clear iPhone memory.
There’s no such thing as too much space on a Mac, and sometimes you have to quickly clear out extra gigabytes on your drive to download something you need, update the operating system, or make a local backup of your iPhone.
We have collected the most common methods for cleaning a Mac drive, which allow you to delete from a few megabytes to acceptable gigabytes on almost any Apple computer.
3. Which gamepad to choose to turn your smartphone into a full-fledged gaming console
There is one factor that discourages those who want to have fun with mobile gaming: the lack of physical control functions. Therefore, over the past 10 years, a huge number of gamepads have appeared on the market, including for smartphones.
We tried a lot of different accessories and share our experience so as not to waste money. In the material you will find a list of gamepads for comfortable use with your smartphone, which can be used on any wallet.
5. Reveal the big secret of memory cards, we are being deceived. check yours
Look, there’s an SD memory card. Everyone knows them; they are still found in cameras and used to store data. But there is a secret in it. And not only in it. You can check it yourself if you have bought such a thing in the last few years.
Take a flashlight and illuminate your entire SD card. Not some old car bought in the last two or three years. You will be very surprised.
6. Don’t buy an iPhone in Georgia. I visited there and saw what was happening in the country with Apple
When leaving Russia, there is always a feeling that, well, an iPhone should be cheaper in another country, so maybe you can buy it? But Turkey, with its 100% tax, showed that direct deliveries do not make cheap iPhones compared to the Russian Federation.
In Georgia, everything turned out to be not so bad; equipment here does not cost crazy money. But I couldn’t call it cheap either. In addition, there is not even an official online Apple Store, something that Russia has distinguished itself for almost 10 years.
This is what Apple stores look like in Tbilisi, what smartphones people carry here, and whether it makes sense to travel to a neighboring country to buy an iPhone from an official reseller.
7. Various interesting things
📍BMW presented an electric hydrofoil yacht.
Its design is inspired by the ICON series of marine “electric vehicles”, which BMW announced at the beginning of the year.
The new product has become one of the largest in its category. The length was 14.8 meters, width – 4.5 meters. It is equipped with two electric motors with a power of 100 kW each and a 400 kWh battery. There is no need to be afraid that the battery will run out, because solar panels are installed on the cover.
📍 Japan is preparing a new law that will force Apple to allow installation of applications on iOS from other stores.
The law is expected to be reviewed next year, with more details available by spring 2024.
In addition, this document also obliges Apple to allow the use of local iOS payment systems with low fees.
📍 Xiaomi introduced the SU7 electric car. Accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds, charging lasts for 800 km.
This is a sedan car that Xiaomi will produce together with the Chinese manufacturer BAIC.
There will be two versions of the car:
▪️ Rear-wheel drive: one motor with a power of 299 hp, torque 400 Nm, power reserve 668 km, top speed 210 km/h.
▪️ All-wheel drive: two motors with a total power of 673 hp, torque of 838 Nm, range of 800 km, maximum speed of 265 km/h.
The SU7’s cabin features a large touchscreen in the center and an electronic instrument panel and head-up display. All displays run HyperOS.
📍iPhone 13 Pro Max has become the sales leader in the used iPhone market in Russia.
According to the DamProdam Trade-in service, the 256 GB iPhone 13 Pro Max has become the most popular iPhone in Russia over this period of time. It accounted for about 63% of all sales.
Second place went to iPhone 14 and iPhone 12 with a 15% share of sales. They are followed by older iPhones with 7% of the market. They gradually achieve productivity and leave the spare parts circulation.
📍Interesting statistics on YouTube: how many videos are there and how many views. Collected by enthusiasts from Reddit. Using various hand-written scripts, bloggers came to the conclusion that there are now 13.325 billion videos on YouTube. Of them:
▪️ 4 billion videos downloaded in 2023
▪️ Videos with more than 10 thousand views account for approximately 4% of the total.
▪️ 32% of videos are in English, 10.5% in Hindi, 8% in Spanish and 6% in Arabic, 5.6% in English
