A team of scientists from France found that people who ate at 9 a.m. were 6% more likely to develop heart disease than those who ate an hour earlier.
Eating after 9pm is associated with a 28% increase in the likelihood of developing cerebrovascular disease (stroke) compared to eating before 8pm. This is especially true for women.
The research team analyzed data from more than 103,000 French people with an average age of 42.
The analysis results also showed that eating a later meal (such as skipping breakfast) was associated with a person’s higher risk of cardiovascular disease. And this risk increases by 6% for every 1 hour delay.
