This collaboration brings together three leading companies in the industry, and an XR device from Samsung is expected to appear in the near future.

Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 is a slight improvement over the original XR2 Gen 2. It provides a 15% increase in GPU clock, a 20% increase in CPU clock and supports 4.3k resolution per eye.

In addition, the new processor supports simultaneous operation of more than 12 cameras.

Qualcomm has confirmed that Samsung is working on an XR device, and given Samsung and Google’s previous collaboration on WearOS, it’s speculated that Google may focus on the software side of the project.

Considering that VR headsets like the Quest 2 and Quest 3 generally run on Android, it makes sense that Google would want to get more involved in the growing XR industry.

HTC Vive, Immersed and Play for Dream (formerly YVR) are also said to be working on XR devices, and the first of these could arrive by the end of 2024. Another unnamed manufacturer also plans to introduce its device in the near future.
