It is very important for a person diagnosed with cancer to consume mainly natural foods. You should make sure that half of the plate is filled with various vegetables and fruits, one-quarter is filled with whole grains, and the rest is filled with healthy protein sources, especially plant-based.

The average US resident is known to consume at least 63% of ultra-processed foods. That is, packaged foods produced in factories: frozen pizza, microwave meals, chips, baked goods, cakes, processed meats, sugary drinks.

Research shows that excessively processed food consumption is directly associated with premature or all-cause mortality. These foods also increase the likelihood of getting cancer and dying from cancer after diagnosis. To protect yourself from cancer, it’s best to avoid processed meats (sausage, deli meats) and get protein from foods like tofu, edamame, tempeh, fish, poultry and legumes.

Also try to avoid overly processed foods and instead eat vegetables and fruits (not juices), whole grains (oats, quinoa, brown rice, barley), plant-based proteins, and replace sugary drinks with water.
