From January 1 to January 9, hackers made 11.6 million records containing Russian data with a total volume of 5 terabytes available to the public. The figure of leaked information is 10% more than in the same period in January 2023. Solar Group reported this to TASS.
During this time, the financial sector ranked first in terms of the number of published data – 115.2 million lines. According to the company, telecommunications, retail, public sector, services and information technology were also significantly affected by the breaches. There was only a “breather” on January 1; the rest of the time, experts recorded various cyber incidents.
From July 25, 2024, changes to the law on the national payment system will come into force, according to which banks will have to return stolen money to customers within 30 days. The aim of the changes is to influence the low level of recovery of stolen funds.
