This week, Microsoft acknowledged a new issue in their operating system. The flaw caused by the update released last Tuesday (14) affects the operation of the “Mobile Hotspot” feature and disconnects the main device from the internet. So far, the company has yet to release a software fix.

To clarify, the Mobile Hotspot functionality allows users to share the internet used by a PC via a new access point that can be configured to transmit signals via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. According to Microsoft, the new issue only affects the method of transmission over Wi-Fi – leaving an alternative, at least, to Internet users who are addicted to the tool.

The problem, which can affect different versions of the Microsoft platform from Windows 7 to Windows 11, can be overcome simply by turning off the said function. Alternatively, users who need it most can restore the operating system to its pre-update state and wait for an official fix to be released.

Interestingly – and unsurprisingly – the update is just a security add-on and doesn’t even have a detailed description by Microsoft. Worse still, the package has another flaw related to the operation of the .NET Framework 3.5 feature.
