International research company Data.ai (formerly App Annie) reported that Russian users installed 2.73 billion games in the App Store and Google Play last year.
This is 4% more than a year earlier. The total volume of downloads in the world increased by 1%, and the entire Russian market of mobile applications and games in total remains the sixth largest.
The most popular game was Roblox, which accounted for 10 million downloads. In second place was Gacha Life 2 with 9.36 million downloads.
Based on Data.ai data, more than 80% of the top downloads in the Russian Federation have changed compared to 2022. Some projects didn’t even exist until 2023.

The Russian game Melon Sandbox showed enormous growth. Its number of downloads grew by 66,000% over the year, and it was installed 5.91 million times. The Royal Match game (8.93 million downloads) showed an increase of 3000% compared to 2022. In 2022, the TOP 5 games by downloads included Subway Surfers, Roblox, Geometry Dash, Going Balls and Durak Online.
The main growth driver was hyper-casual games (+11%). The number of downloads based on trends increased by 22%. Due to increasing user acquisition volumes of previously popular projects from Turkey and the results of a number of new games from developers from Asia, the flow of casual games like “three in a row” (Match) increased by 12%, and puzzles – by 7%.
