In 2023, self-employed workers in Russia earned 1.4 trillion rubles. This is 48% more than a year before. The number of users of the special tax regime increased by 39% in the year, up to 9.3 million people.
The average bill for their services in 2023 was 1,882 rubles, an increase of 221 rubles compared to 2022, a representative of the Federal Tax Service told Vedomosti.
Popular areas of activity include repair services, automotive business, IT, beauty and information services. Most of the self-employed live in Moscow, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, the Krasnodar Territory and Tatarstan.
The vice-rector of the Financial University, Alexander Safonov, explains the growth in the income of the self-employed by inflation and the physical increase in their number. He is also confident that the main influx of these workers into the economy is due to companies trying to optimize the number of personnel and save on taxes.
