The Turkish Ministry of Commerce has addressed the problems of bank transfers from the Russian Federation

Previously, media reported that financial organizations in Turkey began to refuse to work with Russian banks due to the risk of secondary sanctions from the United States. A similar situation is observed among Chinese banks.

According to a TASS source, the Turkish Ministry of Commerce is collecting proposals from companies that have encountered such difficulties. He noted that the country’s authorities hope to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

Another interlocutor from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce clarified that the difficulties mainly concern private banks. While in China it was the state banks that began to restrict financing to clients from the Russian Federation.

According to the head of the Union of Turkish Contractors, Mustafa Gültepe, interruptions in payments by the Russian Federation began 15 to 20 days ago. It is planned to correct the situation at the beginning of next month.

Who has difficulties?

According to representatives of Istanbul business circles, representatives of the chemical and automobile industries, as well as logistics, faced translation problems.

In addition to specific areas, representatives of the Lyaleli district complained of non-payments. There the situation is considered critical. If problems with payments are not resolved, many businesses here could close, says Lyaleli, one of the leaders of the business circles association.

At the end of December, US President Joe Biden signed a decree on a simplified mechanism for imposing sanctions against foreign financial institutions for helping the Russian military-industrial complex.
