American billionaire and 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, said he will not allow the emergence of a digital dollar if he is elected head of state in the next election. The hateful politician believes it is an instrument of “government tyranny,” Bloomberg writes.

Trump promised to prevent the emergence of a digital dollar if he is elected president

At a campaign rally in New Hampshire, Trump expressed the view that such a currency would give the federal government complete control over Americans’ funds.

“They can take your money and you won’t even know it’s gone,” Trump said, noting that he would never allow the creation of a digital currency if he became president.

The US Federal Reserve is currently exploring scenarios for the launch of a digital dollar. There is still no decision on its creation.

According to Bloomberg, the digital dollar initiative did not have the support of conservatives. They believe that its creation will give authorities the opportunity to track citizens’ purchases.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who like Trump plans to run as a Republican, also criticized the initiative.

In Russia, the digital ruble began testing in 2022. Since August 2023, a law allowing payments in digital rubles has come into force. It represents the third form of Russian currency and is controlled by the Central Bank. They plan to make the digital ruble accessible to ordinary Russians by the period 2025-2027.
