Google will carry out another wave of staff cuts to invest in artificial intelligence. The layoffs are necessary to achieve ambitious goals in the development of AI, Google’s CEO said.
Google will continue to cut staff in 2024. The Verge writes about this in reference to Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
In January, Google had already laid off several hundred employees from different divisions. The layoffs included specialists working on Google Assistant and internal software.
Future cuts are necessary for the company to achieve ambitious goals in the field of artificial intelligence, Pichai said.
Pichai did not mention the number of employees expected to be laid off. According to the publication, specialists from the advertising sales, work on YouTube and other departments will be fired.
It was previously known that Google plans to transfer or lay off sales employees whose tasks were automated using new artificial intelligence tools.
