In Russia, a surplus of household appliances was formed, Kommersant found out. In 2022, due to sanctions and fears of supply cuts in the country, the demand for this type of goods increased considerably. As a result, large batches of equipment are stored in warehouses.
For the most part, these are national brand products produced in Chinese companies, clarifies the interlocutor of the publication. According to him, Russian companies assumed that China’s partners would not be able to continue to cooperate with them, so they immediately ordered large quantities.
As the head of the Candy-Hoover Group in Russia, Gleb Mishin, notes, the equipment ordered in 2022 began to arrive in warehouses only now. As a result, there was a surplus.
Another source of the publication explained that the situation was affected by the refusal of the Maersk aircraft carrier to work in the Russian Federation. The matches, which were broadcast in the summer, only reached the country in January.
At the same time, Marvel Distribution believes that the backlog of equipment in warehouses is due, first of all, to a decrease in demand. And the commercial director of Holodilnik.ru, Alexey Pogudalov, in turn, argues that companies from Turkey and China do not have time to provide a large volume of orders, so, on the contrary, there are shortages of various brands.
However, large networks do not notice an overabundance of equipment in warehouses. Citilink and M.Video-Eldorado reported that merchandise stocks are optimal.
According to Dmitry Shishkin, CEO of Kuppersberg, last year the home appliance market in Russia contracted by 30% in domestic terms. The forecasts for the current year are associated with a new fall.
However, according to Shishkin, significant changes in pricing policy cannot be expected. Market participants will not increase demand by lowering prices.
Against the background of Western sanctions and the reorientation of the Russian market, new brands continue to enter the country. The day before, ChiQ Chinese home appliance sales began.
