Throughout 2024, the technology to create AI-based holograms will be tested in real classroom environments. Firstly, the Fashion aspect will be taught using technology; Lessons will be taught by teachers invited from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
This equipment is a joint project of American immersive technology manufacturers Proto and Holoconnects and will reproduce the real presence of not only lecturers conducting lectures remotely, but also famous scientists who lived before, such as Albert Einstein.
As Professor Vikki Locke, Director of Undergraduate Studies at Loughborough Business School, puts it, “3D is much more engaging and real, whereas Zoom lectures just feel like watching TV.”
Classes using “smart” immersive equipment will be included in the curriculum in 2025. However, Loughborough has not confirmed that it plans to use the technology regularly in the future to bring digital images of famous and long-dead people into the classroom.
