In the first beta version of iOS 17.4, 9to5Mac found references to the new iPad Pro. According to the code, the TrueDepth camera used for Face ID will be positioned horizontally instead of vertically as before.

Landscape orientation will probably be the main one in the new iPad Pro. This also confirms the new procedure for setting up Face ID:

Face ID must be in landscape orientation to recognize you.

When setting up Face ID, your iPad should be in landscape orientation with the camera at the top of the screen. Once setup is complete, Face ID works in portrait and landscape orientation.

Currently, the horizontal TrueDepth camera is only available on the 10th generation iPad.
