The robot thoroughly mixes the starting materials and directs them to the reactor through a tube system. The powerful LEDs then activate the photocatalyst present in the reaction mixture, triggering the molecular conversion process. The resulting molecules are identified using an automated NMR spectrometer and fed into an artificial intelligence system for further analysis.
Researchers found that RoboChem produced approximately 80% higher yields than traditional methods. It can also detect reactions that require less light than human chemists could predict. Additionally, RoboChem creates a complete and comprehensive data set that includes both positive and negative results, providing valuable insights for the AI-driven chemistry of the future.
