Charisma is a genetic lottery. A renowned expert on charisma and personality, Dr. Ryan Sherman notes that the vast majority of scientific evidence shows that nearly all aspects of human behavior are determined by genetics. Charisma is determined by factors such as a person’s natural attractiveness, his ability to win people’s admiration, his ability to attract their attention, and his need for this attention. Research shows that genetics shapes half to two-thirds of our personality and psychological traits.

Charisma is a difficult skill to acquire. In general, there isn’t much evidence that charisma courses work. However, a person can probably become more charismatic with practice and sufficient feedback. The problem is that a person’s personality is largely determined by genetics. Therefore it is difficult to change it. This takes a lot of work, discipline and longevity. It is more difficult to change even physical characteristics, not internal ones: body language, smile, touch.

You can’t fake body language. The truth is that body language is a person’s unintentional (natural) actions. There are studies that show that knowingly doing these things will cause you to screw things up. So the conversation will get awkward and they won’t trust you anymore. Naturally charismatic people shake hands with others confidently and are often very tactful.

Charisma is not always a good trait. A person can use this quality to deceive others.
