After a long battle with Apple, Beeper dropped support for conversations via iMessage. Last Friday (26) the company announced that the Beeper Mini application was removed from the Play Store and the source was moved to the “Labs” of Beeper Cloud.

The change is a result of a series of measures Apple has implemented to prevent interoperability of messaging programs. First, the manufacturer blocked native access to Android mobile phones, and later Mac-mediated conversations were also blocked.

Some users can now send and receive messages via iMessage on Beeper Cloud. “Please note that we will no longer be able to provide support or troubleshooting for any iMessage-related issues,” the company explains.

However, only old users will be able to continue using iMessage through Beeper Cloud. Beeper is now focusing on its goal of creating a “universal chat platform.”

The platform has open-sourced the iMessage bridge on GitHub. Curious users can take advantage of the structure to host iMessage communication on their Mac computers.

The saga between Apple and Beeper began in December, when the platform announced it was using reverse engineering to make iMessage work natively on Android. With this method, direct communication was achieved with Maça’s servers without using any device.

However, it didn’t take long for Apple to spot the fraudulent access and block it completely. After this, Beeper re-enabled communication via Mac computers; This method is also blocked by the manufacturer. Finally, the company’s latest initiative required consumers to purchase an old iPhone to continue chatting.
