75% of Russians are thinking about changing their specialty, 39% are ready to do it now, another 36% are ready to do it in three years. These conclusions were reached by analysts from the Higher Education department of the Skillfactory computer professions school and the Zarplaty.ru research center; RB.RU learned the results.
The main reason for changing majors is the desire to earn more. This answer was given most frequently by young people between 25 and 29 years old. Another in five would like to start enjoying his work. This especially motivates respondents between 51 and 55 years old.
According to analysts, 36% of citizens between 41 and 55 years old want to enter a new field to apply their skills in a relevant area and more in line with their personal interests.
At the same time, the majority of respondents understand that to move to another field they will have to sacrifice something. 47% are willing to abandon their usual work rhythm and schedule. Another third realize that previous experience may not be relevant in a new business.
48% fear losing stability and confidence in the future. And 43% are afraid of the unknown, one in three people is worried that a new profession does not justify the effort and money invested.
More than 50% of those surveyed believe that they will get used to a new profession within six months to a year, one in five people need less than six months to do so and almost 20% wait up to three years to adapt.
The study was carried out in January in cities with a population of more than one million economically active people between 25 and 55 years old. Sample: 1955 people.
