Apple today added the 2012 13-inch MacBook Pro to its list of potential customers.

This model was the last to have a built-in CD/DVD drive. The company continues to sell the SuperDrive to external customers who need a CD/DVD drive but require a USB-C adapter to use with modern MacBooks.

The Apple device is “obsolete” after more than 7 years have passed since it was discontinued from sale. The company says MacBooks are “eligible for battery-only repair extensions for up to 10 years from the date of the product’s last commercial release, subject to the availability of fundamental replacement parts.” In other cases, there will be no further official repairs to devices on the premises.

On the software side, Apple has limited support for MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur in 2020.
