Your perception of stress is important. Perceiving stressful situations as a challenge rather than a threat is associated with improved mental and physical health. Researchers surveyed 395 athletes about their stress levels and general health. They believe the results also apply to non-athletes.

This study is the first of its kind to examine the relationship between stress ratings and health. Scientists say more research is needed to understand how to effectively teach people to reframe their perception of stress.
