Cached links were needed in cases where the target site did not open for some reason. In December 2023, the disappearance of cached pages was noticed by Barry Schwartz, founder of the Search Engine Roundtable resource. Recently, this information was confirmed by Google search engine spokesman Danny Sullivan.

He noted that cached versions of pages do indeed disappear from search because there are usually no problems accessing sites and this tool is not needed. But you can also type an address like “cache:domain.com” and access cached and saved pages from the Internet.

However, Sullivan said that this feature will also disappear. Instead of caching, users may be given access to links to archived versions of pages on the Internet Archive organization’s The Wayback Machine service, but this is decided at the management level, he said.
