After initializing your digital wallet Samsung Wallet and the South Korean giant that turned it into Samsung Pay took a step back and saved the old name of the app, this time bringing together new features and functionalities — including cryptocurrencies and passwords. In the company’s words, the decision should enable greater organization through unified software and a simplified interface.

According to Samsung, the new platform combines “Pay”, “Pass”, “Blockchain Wallet” services and even some functions of “SmartThings”. As a result, users will be able to make payments, manage access credentials and passwords, track their cryptocurrency portfolio, and store identity documents in the future.

Also, thanks to its integration with SmartThings, users will be able to use the app to manage their residential access passwords and even digital car keys. Naturally, both functions depend on compatible devices and gadgets, and this is something that needs to be expanded over the next few years.

Trying to keep users safe, the new platform will be protected by Samsung Knox, which has direct integration with the operating system and offers extra layers of privacy, including fingerprint access.
