Scientists don’t yet know exactly why cats like to lick humans. However, there are various theories about this.
trust theory. Your cat may probably be licking your skin because it trusts you. Adult cats generally only lick cats they trust and do not see as rivals. So this is not a positive sign, but rather a neutral sign.
biochemical theory. The gist of this theory is that your cat is interested in any scent you have on your hand. The truth is that cats’ sense of taste is very sensitive and they can even detect pheromone secretions on the skin of other animals.
property theory. Cats love their unique scent so much that they believe it must be superior to other scents. Therefore, your pet may start licking himself to get rid of your scent after you pet him.
Also, licking a person can cause a cat to say “That’s mine!” There might be a way to say it.
