The holding company IKEA Systems BV, registered in the Netherlands, which controls the intellectual property of the Swiss company IKEA, has extended the trademark registration in Russia until 2033. The company submitted the corresponding application to Rospatent.
As RBC found out, last summer the company sent four applications to Rospatent to register two brands: IKEA and IKEA. The requests were also related to image options.
In early February, the department registered the IKEA trademark; The company’s exclusive right to it will cease to be valid on August 1, 2033.
As indicated in the materials, the trademark is registered for the category “Collection of miscellaneous goods, excluding their transportation, which allows customers to view and purchase these goods through wholesale or retail stores, online catalogs, websites or teleshops ” (ICGS class 511/ 35).
IKEA became one of the first foreign companies to suspend operations and close stores in the Russian Federation due to the entry of troops into Ukraine. Ingka Group held an online sale and finally closed its doors in August.
In autumn 2023, Gazprombank bought the Mega shopping center chain in Russia from the Swedish Ingka centers.
