A US federal court has ruled that Elon Musk will have to testify again before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as part of an investigation into possible irregularities in the billionaire’s purchase of Twitter in 2022. The businessman previously refused to meet with the SEC in September.
According to Reuters, based on the ruling of a California trial judge, Musk and the regulator have a week to agree on the place and time of the conversation.
Judge Laurel Biller’s ruling cemented her interim ruling issued in December 2023. The judge sided with the SEC, which filed a lawsuit in October against Musk, who in September declined an interview that was part of the SEC’s investigation. commission.
The businessman then refused to testify, saying he had already done so twice and accusing the SEC of harassment. Biller said that if the parties cannot agree on the date and time of a meeting, he will listen to two opinions and make a decision for them.
In April 2022, Elon Musk bought the social network Twitter for $44 billion and since May of the same year the SEC has been investigating the businessman for possible violations in the purchase of the company.
