Study: MTS became the leader in Internet speed at a ski resort in Sochi

The TelecomDaily agency conducted a study of Internet access in the Sochi mountain cluster.

Experts measured the success of loading the reference page (Kepler) and signal latency (Ping). At the first indicator, all operators have 100% or seem to be there. Ping latency on average for all locations is 88.8 ms; the minimum was recorded in the MTS network – 81.5 ms.

On average, the peak speed for all operators is 242.6 Mbit/s. The leader in this indicator was MTS with 305.3 Mbit/s. As the operator himself notes, MTS receives the largest number of roomers on its network every day. In general, MTS in Sochi serves up to 1 million subscribers every day of the season. At the same time, the load on the network grows by about a quarter per year.

The development of the communications sector in Sochi has always had its own specifics in terms of seasonality, but with the active growth of internal traffic we have received new challenges. Construction in mountainous terrain requires special conditions – both from the point of view of technical solutions and from the point of view of investment.

Today we can say that the mountain cluster of Sochi is one of the territories of the Krasnodar Territory and even Russia, where we give the subscriber at altitude and in motion the best speeds, comparable to those that he can get in his apartment via wire.

MTS was able to achieve such results thanks to a large-scale development of labor relations in the Sochi mountain cluster. Coverage of the territory has increased by 50%, 4G works even on high sections of the route at around 2,400 meters. In total, over the past 5 years, MTS has invested about 1 billion rubles in servicing labor communications in the mountains of Sochi.

Uniform coverage and high speed are measured through simultaneous operation in 4 frequency ranges.

In addition, for seamless coverage, MTS uses outdoor base stations and a large number of closed facilities. In almost all hotels, entertainment centers and small complexes, the company has deployed antenna systems inside the buildings for the best reception.
