According to recent rumors based on code in the third beta version of tvOS 17.4, the company is actively working on this device.

Insiders claim that Apple has been experimenting with a modified iPad mini running tvOS to test how the HomePod works with the display.

The device codenamed “Z314” will be supported by tvOS, which is not surprising considering that both Apple TV and HomePod use this operating system.

Rumors say that the new HomePod will be equipped with the A15 Bionic processor, which is also used in the iPad mini 6. This shows that Apple is not only testing the concept, but also developing the production version of the device.

The addition of a system tool to the HomePod version of tvOS designed to fix bugs in the unresponsive UI confirms that the device will indeed have a built-in display.
