The lenses in our eyes naturally focus light on the retina, but genetics, environmental factors or age-related changes can distort the focus. Corrective lenses are designed to compensate for these changes according to each person’s individual needs.
For the new study, scientists created the “spiral diopter,” a spiral-shaped lens that creates three different focal points in the field of view. This lens has demonstrated excellent performance over a wide range of illumination and retains multifocus capabilities regardless of pupil size.
Scientists plan to conduct further research on the use of new lenses in real conditions and the development of technologies in other fields.
