According to analytics firm CIRP, 13% of new iPhone buyers will buy Android in 2023, up from 15% in 2022. While the decline isn’t dramatic, it marks a shift after years of increasing numbers of Android users switching to iPhones.

This may be due to various factors. In 2023, flagship Android devices have been largely updated incrementally, with no “breakthrough” innovations to attract new users. In contrast, Apple has continued to reinforce its “walled garden” approach, potentially making the transition less attractive to those heavily invested in the Google ecosystem.

It’s worth noting that 13% still represents a significant portion of new iPhone users. But this trend demonstrates the increasing stability of both ecosystems as users stick to familiar territory.
