We have already talked many times about the quality of smartphones in the middle and expensive price segments. But today I would like to focus on budget devices.

I got my hands on an unusual Tecno Spark 20 Pro, which costs a little more than 15 thousand. rubles And he worked this money at the level of more expensive devices.

Today I will not only praise this device – there is something to criticize it for. But for such a price I don’t even want to find fault with it.

Now let’s talk about everything.

The set is as rich as possible. Respect

Why I love the Tecno brand is its constant complete packages.

In a rather massive box with an adapter we find a USB-C charging cable, a 33 W power adapter, a screen protector, a silicone case and various documentation. A special like for the film.

Personally, I don’t like covering my devices with glass and films, or using cases. But it’s very nice to see them as a bonus, and the fact that the film was not pasted on from the factory immediately shows that the performance is individually suitable for each consumer. Those who need it will stick the film, and those who don’t need it will not.

Ergonomics and design. Here’s the leather back panel

We meet by clothes, as they say. And here the smartphone was able to pleasantly surprise with the presence of an eco-leather case.

Tactilely, it evokes unusual sensations from use. The slightly rough, but quite smooth back panel does not try to slip out of your hands and fits perfectly in it, despite the size of the device itself. By the way, the dimensions are as follows: 164.6 × 76.6 × 8.4 mm. And the weight is 206 grams.

It’s also cool that the back panel looks slightly recessed. The frames moved out just a little bit above her. Additional protection in case of a fall, so to speak. But because of this very device, holding it may not be entirely convenient.

Just look at this texture

I note that the smart itself is available in four colors: “breeze green”, “black glow”, “golden sunset” and “blue dawn”. And only eco-leather is installed in the green case.

The camera block is of impressive size, which immediately catches your eye. Outwardly, it resembles a similar camera arrangement on the iPhone 15 Pro, but even larger.

The buttons are located for an Android smartphone: on the right is the power button (it has a built-in fingerprint scanner) and the lid adjustment rocker, on the left is the slot for the SIM card and memory card. There are stereo speakers at the top and bottom, as well as a built-in mini-jack (a rarity in 2024), a USB Type-C port and a microphone.

The screen is not bad, but there are questions

The Tecno Spark 20 Pro has a huge 6.8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. Image density is 396 ppi, aspect ratio is 20:9.

And here’s what I’ll tell you about the screen. He support 120Hz refresh clock. And this is an immediate plus to the device’s advantages, because the picture will be smooth everywhere and always. True, not in all games yet, but it’s a matter of time.

The image is quite clear, the pixels do not shine in the eyes. But!

I got a strange feeling from the screen itself. It seems that it does not have a very wide viewing angle, which is why when deviating from a right angle, a blue appearance occurs. Not annoying, but just worth knowing.

And the second point. Either the 120 Hz operation is not adjusted, or something else, but I see weak effect of “sipping” the image when scrolling. Not “jelly”, something else. I don’t even know how to explain this. In general, keep an eye on the interface elements as you scroll through pages and menus. No such effect was observed while watching videos or playing games.

It’s not critical, especially for an inexpensive device, but I’ll still note this point.

The declared brightness of the display is 580 cd/m2. This is normal for an IPS matrix and is generally not annoying when used outdoors. There is no sun outside now, so it was not possible to check under these conditions. But judging by the numbers, light images are possible that won’t interfere with viewing.

Good performance under the hood

The “heart” of the smartphone is the processor MediaTek Helio G99 and 16 GB RAM. Or rather, 8+8 GB. The hardware has 8 GB of RAM, but can be increased by memory up to 16 GB. This is a good looking device.

The ARM Mali-G57 MC2 with a clock frequency of 950 MHz is responsible for the schedule.

Overall a standard chip. But it is often installed on more expensive gadgets, which earns respect from Tecno. It’s rare to match this level of processor power in low-cost smartphones.

There is no strong heating body, because the stand is “cold”. Because of this, there is no throttling even in built-in games.

The volume of internal memory was 256 GB. This is more than enough to store photos, videos, games, applications and anything else. It’s a pity that for iPhones such a minimum volume is found only in the 15 Pro Max.

The camera is excellent for its price

I’ll tell you right away. The camera in the Tecno Spark 20 Pro is missing a star from the sky. However, they get decent pictures for an inexpensive device.

The unit consists of three sensors: a 108 MP main sensor (Samsung ISOCELL HM6 module, f/1.8 aperture), a 2 MP macro (f/2.4 aperture) and an additional one. However, the manufacturer does not specify what it is needed for. I’m guessing it’s to measure image change.

There is phase detection autofocus, but there is no optical stabilization. It would even be nice to see it on a cheap smartphone.

Smart can shoot in a hybrid 2x zoom. He has a 108 MP sensor behind him and crops the resulting image. At the same time, there are practically no consequences of losses. There is also a night mode, which makes low-light photos more vibrant and bright.

Finally, the front camera produces a pretty nice image thanks to 32 MP. The aperture here was f/2.2. Under normal conditions, you can take remarkable selfies.

Works for a really long time

A 5000 mAh battery is responsible for the autonomy of the new product. And thanks to the fact that although there is a large productive screen, but not a very demanding chip, we get good operating time.

According to my tests, the battery life of the smartphone lasts about 1.5-2 days with moderate use. Under heavy loads, this figure drops to 5-6 hours, which is also not bad.

In general, the device is excellent for daily use. It’s enough to pass.

Making every penny

So, what do we have in Tecno Spark 20 Pro for 17 thousand rubles. rubles? A huge and fast 120 Hz screen, a good 108 MP camera, a leather body (or plastic in other colors; but it doesn’t scratch) and good battery life.

Also for this money we get a significant 256 GB of internal memory and up to 16 GB of RAM.

For daily use, this device is “one hundred percent” suitable. Stylish, moderately productive, works for a long time without charging. What else do you need for that kind of money? Verdict: We’re pregnant.
