Victorinox Huntsman has a complete set of tools that are necessary for every day, even in standard conditions.

1) Big blade — the main knife, with which I sometimes cut food at home or in the office, open large packages, expose wires, and more.
2) Small blade — an additional blade, with which I open small parcels, cut vitamins for dogs, and provoke any manipulation.
3) Wood saw — with the help of it, I actually cut down trees; For at least the last five years, I have been sawing all the New Year trees after the holidays using a saw.
4) Scissors — I know quite a few users (male, of course) who can even do a manicure with their help, but I usually solve more trivial things myself.

5) Can opener (+ 3 mm screwdriver) – the most convenient tool that closes cans great, and also looks like a small screwdriver.
6) Bottle opener (+ 6 mm screwdriver) – an incredibly convenient opener for soda, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in any configuration, and an even larger screwdriver.
7) Corkscrew – an indispensable thing for family picnics in nature, which for some reason, with rare, rare exceptions, is almost all other Swiss knives.
8) Hook – a useless rudiment for which it is almost impossible to come up with any adequate or even sane application.

9) Awl – an excellent device for making holes; I also use it to make new ones on the belts, reducing their size (of course, on the buckle side).
10) Toothpick — sometimes I use it for its intended purpose, but more often I just clean the keyboard of my MacBook from random crumbs.
eleven) Tweezers — it is very small, but incredibly comfortable; With the help of it, it is convenient to get out splinters, and sometimes pull out excess hairs on the body.
12) Key ring — I just have the Victorinox branded rope on it, but sometimes I hang here additional EDC gadgets that I want to carry with me more often.

Of course, this set also contains useless tools. But most of them can still be used. And quite often.

It seems to me that in this case a certain balance is maintained between dimensions and capabilities.

Which of the Victorinox Huntsman tools do I use the most?

Of course, most often I use a very ordinary knife, which every now and then I need in very good condition.

This is Swiss knife. Therefore, there is nothing successful, what exactly I use the larger blade most often. With its help, you can sometimes cut food, open a box, or just cut branches in nature because you have nothing better to do.

Have scissors having it with you is also often very useful. With the help of them, you can sometimes remove just threads from clothes, cut off a burr using a switch, or open a package with something.

Bottle opener It is also used at some gatherings. I don’t even know if I even have a full-fledged device of this kind in my kitchen.

I use a can opener most often as a small screwdriverwhich usually copes with both straight and cross-shaped caps.

Why I recommend Victorinox Huntsman to almost everyone

The dimensions of the knife are comparable, plus or minus, to AirPods Pro, and the number of their useful uses is virtually limitless.

I recommend this Swiss Army knife to friends and acquaintances only because I think it is perfectly balanced in all possible areas.

▪ Possibilities. At the same time, let’s just say that a household multitool has everything you need to cope with basic tasks in difficult conditions. He will help you cut something off, and he won’t refuse to tighten a couple of screws in a chair.

▪ Quality. Firstly, nothing plays, does not creak, does not seem flimsy or anything else. Secondly, in almost ten years, even my knives, scissors and other tools have not become dull. An eternal thing indeed.

▪ Dimensions. When closed, this knife can simply be hidden in the palm of your hand; its dimensions are comparable to AirPods or other wireless headphones.

▪ Price. In February 2024, when I am writing this article, they are asking a little more than 4 thousand rubles for a knife. – Consider this price even more than justified for all the amenities it provides.

Of course, for me this is a purely household appliance. This thing is very, very far from full-fledged multitools, which I myself am now actively looking at.

Another advantage to the improvements is the lack of fixation devices in the open position, which Leatherman has, as well as the presence of some very strange tools that can be called rudimentary.

Why Victorinox Huntsman is not a real multitool

There are different Victorinox models that try to seem like multitools, but they are too much inferior to their competitors in complex tasks.

Leatherman has a similar situation – the company has good compact options, but they don’t have half of their visitors visiting things that are often needed almost every day.

The Victorinox Huntsman allows you to add a button, and its pads are also very easy to remove from scratches using a melamine sponge.

Remove scratches from the knife body. The main misunderstanding of all medium-shaped Victorinox Swiss knives is the glossy plastic lining on the outer parts of the body, which is very easy to scratch. I can’t imagine why they are there exactly like that.

After a month or two of use, they are usually matte, and then everything becomes striped. They can be removed using a damp melamine sponge.

It is made of something like very fine sandpaper, so it erases such parts without any problems.

Add Victorinox Huntsman to the button. During these 10 years, my linings completely broke once. First we needed our things during the move to the warehouse, and then we could pick them up anywhere. The knife was in my pocket—apparently it had pressed down something.

❷ Which tools are the most useful? This was done by a fairly compact folding knife, which is most often used with additional tools such as scissors, bottle openers and corkscrews.

❸ Why did you choose this option? This is the ideal Swiss knife in terms of size, capabilities, quality and cost. I simply don’t know anything better in this regard.

❹ Why is this not a multitool at all? This means that this is a folding knife for business purposes. True multitools are usually pliers-based and provide a wide range of tools for solving more serious tasks.

❺ Secrets of use. To reduce the number of scratches on a glossy cabinet, occasionally “polish” it with a melamine sponge. Plastic covers are easy to change, and new ones in any colors are available on Yandex Market.

Overall, I highly recommend Victorinox Huntsman. I think there is simply nothing better on the market in a generally accepted format. Other models from the manufacturer either have very few functions or too many.

Full-fledged multitools are usually suitable for completely different tasks, so you simply cannot compare them with desktop “knives”.
