Xiaomi founder Lei Jun officially announced the launch of a “smart factory” near Beijing. The new high-tech production line is capable of producing more than 10 million flagship smartphones annually. 96.8% of the component and packaging testing equipment and 100% of the factory software are our own.

Xiaomi launched a new generation “smart factory”

For Xiaomi, this is an important milestone, which means a qualitative leap due to the corporation’s first large-scale internal production, writes Gizmochina.

What makes a factory “smart” is high automation and a fully digitalized production process, which allows computer systems to make decisions independently in most cases, based on real-time data analysis.

This is not Xiaomi’s first foray into smart manufacturing. The company’s first factory, equipped with machine learning hardware and powerful analytics capabilities, went live in late 2019.

However, the new Changping factory surpasses its predecessor in scale and level of assembly quality of new generation smartphones.

The news comes just a few days before the long-awaited launch of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. planned on February 22. Lei Jun confirmed that the innovative technologies of Xiaomi 14 Bay Blue and 14 Ultra were tested in this factory.
