Why is this a problem? People often use the same password for different sites. This makes it easier for scammers; By hacking one account, they gain access to others. Additionally, hackers have databases of stolen passwords from which they can browse options. Simple combinations are easy to break.

Researchers note that of the 200 million records analyzed, only 44 million were unique. The same username/password appears in an average of 5 different leaks.

Suggestions? Use combinations of more than 12 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Do not use the same password on different sites. And use password managers. Do not neglect two-factor authentication and do not think that “junk” services are not of interest to scammers.
