The former head of Spotify’s work with artists in Russia, Rustam Kireev, reported on his personal Telegram channel that the Spotify accounts of several Russian artists were hacked. A hacker has put artists’ usernames and passwords up for sale on a music streaming service, which could compromise their pages and lead to a freeze on royalty payments from auditions.

The incident affected Slava Marlow, Soda Luv, Yanix, Lida, 163Onmyneck, Kishlak, UglyStephan, Feduk, Coldah, Sqwore, Yungway, Pinq and others, Kommersant reports citing Kireev.
The number of listeners to these accounts per month varies from 177 thousand to 492 thousand. On hacking pages, the hacker leaves the logo of the channel on which the data is sold.
Since, after Spotify left Russia, payments to artists continued, despite difficulties in accessing the account, market experts believe that artists may lose part of their profits. They will no longer receive royalties for on-site auditions.
According to Kommersant’s anonymous sources, the share of foreign listeners of domestic artists barely exceeds 20% of the total number of their audience. And yet, the platform continued to regularly pay artists from this segment. Discrediting personal accounts can result in the loss of these funds.
