The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not want users to buy smart watches or rings that detect blood glucose levels using non-invasive methods.

The ministry says such gadgets can lead to errors in diabetes visits, including taking too many or too few numbers. Such devices have not received government approval.

These non-invasive devices are continuous glucose devices (CGMs) that transmit data through a smartwatch app. And they don’t have a red certificate.

The agency claims that stores have removed such devices from sale.

Apple is rumored to be working on a device for the Apple Watch that can measure blood sugar levels non-invasively. The company is exploring optical absorption spectroscopy, which uses a laser to transmit light under a casing to detect glucose levels in human blood.
