TSMC President Mark Liu expressed gratitude to the Japanese government, local residents, and partners such as Sony and Denso for their continued support throughout the process.

The opening of the facility, called Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing (JASM), represents a significant step in Japan’s ambitious plan to re-establish itself as a leader in chip manufacturing. JASM will begin production later this year, paving the way for a second, larger facility to be operational within three years. The total volume of private investments in these enterprises is 20 billion dollars.
