The January incident, which CNN described as “horrifying,” involved a missing door seal found on an Alaska Airlines plane. A preliminary report by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed that four critical bolts that were supposed to secure the plug were missing. Clark’s departure follows 18 years of service at Boeing, including leadership roles as chief engineer and chief mechanic on the 737 Max program before becoming head of the program in March 2021.
