The founders of American IT companies Veeam Software and Object First, Andrei Baronov and Ratmir Timashev, renounced Russian citizenship. They became the eighth and ninth businessmen to surrender their Russian passports since the beginning of 2022, Forbes writes.
The businessmen went through the resignation procedure at the Russian Embassy in Cyprus and now only Cypriot citizenship remains. The businessmen themselves have long lived abroad: Baronov in Switzerland and Timashev in the United States.
Andrei Baronov and Ratmir Timashev were included in the ranking of the “200 richest businessmen in Russia” in the period 2017-2021. In 2020, Forbes estimated Andrei Baronov’s fortune at $770 million and Ratmir Timashev’s at $680 million.
