Apple said it will retain support for web apps in iOS 17.4 in Europe. Previously, the company promised to disable this feature, which caused a lot of criticism from users.

According to Apple, web apps will run on the WebKit engine regardless of whether it’s added using Safari or another browser. In other words, web applications operate without modification.

Apple initially explained the removal of web apps under the European Digital Markets Act (DMA). Apparently, the company’s lawyers decided that Apple could not support WebKit-based web applications due to DMA browser parity requirements. But now the situation has finally been resolved by turning to European users. [9to5Mac]
